Our Staff

We believe that one of the keys to a successful center is a strong team of teachers.  All of our staff have a love for children, are committed Christians and are experienced Early Childhood Educators.

Each of our staff members meet, and in many ways exceed, the requirements set by the State Licensing Department.  In addition, all staff members are certified in CPR, First Aid, and Health and Safety.

We sincerely believe it is both a privilege and responsibility to care for and nurture your child.  With complete assurance and peace of mind, parents can entrust their children to our strong team.

Ms. Holly - Director
Welcome to our Carmel Valley Preschool family! I am thrilled to be here! I have worked with preschool age children for over 15 years as a teacher, assistant director and director.  I am a member of the NAEYC and San Diego Child Care & Development Planning Council.  I was born on the east coast but grew up here in San Diego.  I live in North County with my husband, our infant daughter and our 3 dogs.  I love spending time together as a family, taking frequent trips to Disneyland, reading, cooking and baking and expanding my knowledge of early childhood education.
Ms. Sheena - Assistant Director

I have worked as a Pre-K teacher at Carmel Valley Preschool since 2007 and have recently transitioned into the office assisting our Director.  I am married and have two sweet and silly children, Cameron and Aria. When I am not at school I love spending time with my family, going to Disneyland and volunteering at my church. I have been blessed with the opportunity to watch every child learn and grow each day.

Carmel Valley Preschool Teachers

I have been working with children for 15+ years, and have been on staff at Carmel Valley Preschool since 2004. I have worked at Carmel Valley Preschool in a variety of positions; however I have enjoyed working in the two year old class for many years and recently taught a Pre-K class.  It is amazing to watch them grow both physically and academically over the year.  I love seeing how proud our students are as their speech expands and they accomplish potty training!

I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development from San Diego State University.  In my free time I enjoy going on walks, seeing a movies, and spending time with my family.

I’ve been a teacher with Carmel Valley Preschool since 2010, and I’ve taught in every classroom here, and enjoy working with all of the teachers and staff. I currently teach a 3 year old class.  I have a degree in ECE and interned at the preschool in the Pre-k classroom at Miramar College. I have also taught 4 years at a private preschool in Tucson, AZ and took additional early childhood education classes at Pima College.

In my spare time I enjoy writing everything from blogs to children’s literature. I also spend time doing  volunteer work with a family shelter in Oceanside helping in their women’s housing project and various auxiliary projects.  My family lives in the Kern River Valley.

I have been working with Carmel Valley Preschool since the Summer of 2019 and have worked with many different age groups in my more than 17 years of teaching preschool. I enjoy the fascination that young children have when they realize all the amazing things that they can do all on their own as they find their independence. Being their guide and helper in learning is what makes this job so rewarding. I look forward to all the new adventures that each school year brings.

My husband and I have 3 sons and 1 daughter. We enjoy going to the beach and the Zoo and just hanging out together as a family as well as taking our dog for walks and spending time with our horse.

Mr. Mark

Hi! My name is Mr. Mark and I have been working at Carmel Valley Preschool since 2018. I have recently graduated from Point Loma Nazerene University and one of my goals is to become a Child Development Professor in the future. I have many years of experience working with children as the Children's Director at People's Church San Diego.

I enjoy art, photography, foods and traveling. When I am not at school I like to explore different places, go hiking and play volleyball.

I was born in Hawaii and been living in San Diego for over 25 years. I’ve been happily married for over 20 years. I’ve been working with children for the past 16 years; ages ranging from infant to school-age and see myself surrounded by children for the rest of my life.

I have received an AS degree in Child Development and am working on my B.S. degree in Human Development. I am truly grateful to be given the opportunity to work with such priceless little ones and being able to see their smiling faces.

I am thankful for the opportunity to be part of the Carmel Valley Preschool team! I have many years of experience with children as a volunteer leader in the children's ministry at my church. This is when I realized what my true passion is. I am currently studying child development at Grossmont College.

When I am not at school,  I love to volunteer at my church on the worship team, help in the nursery/toddler room and mentor the youth group on Friday nights. I enjoy hanging out with my friends, trying new things, singing and dancing! I am excited to watch your children learn and grow!

Hi! My name is Ms. Songju and I am excited to be part of the Carmel Valley Preschool team since 2018. I will be co-teaching the 3 year old class with Ms. Renee on Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays. I graduated in Early Childhood Education in Korea and have many years of experience teaching preschool before moving to the U.S. a few years ago. I am also the Children's Director and Sunday School teacher at my church. I have volunteered many years and hours here at Carmel Valley Preschool in the different classrooms as well as assisting with events.

When I am not at school, I love spending time with my family and cooking!

I have been teaching at Carmel Valley Preschool since 2011, and I teach one of our Pre-K programs. Prior to working at Carmel Valley Preschool, I taught ceramics to Kindergarten thru 5th grade at Creekside Elementary for 7 years.

My passion for teaching academics to young children is inspired by the amazing developmental stages and growth that take place within a school year. So many accomplishments to celebrate in little hearts and minds! I have been blessed to have an amazing husband whom I love to spend my free time with, along with 4 incredible boys and 2 girls.

Hello! My name is Ms. Kharmie and I am one of the 2's teachers! I grew up in the Philippines and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. I came here in the US in 2007 and decided to become a preschool teacher. Since then, I have recently graduated from Miramar College.  I have been married for over ten years and have one beautiful daughter.

I volunteer at my church on my praise & worship team.

When I am not at school, I love spending time with my family going to the parks, zoo, museums and beach.

My name is Ariellyn and i am currently attending San Diego State University for my bachelor's degree in child development. This is my second year at the university and throughout each semester as a requirement I have volunteered and worked several hours for different community centers and child organization. I live with my family, younger brother and two of my dogs.

When i am not at school I love to paint, travel, play basketball and volleyball, spend time with friends and family and serve as a children's leader at my local church. Serving at my church has steered me into the desire of working with children and the reason I am a child development major today.

I have been working here at Carmel Valley Preschool since last September of 2015 as a substitute. I enjoy teaching the 3's.  It is amazing to watch them be excited and full of enthusiasm when they learn something new and accomplish new things like finishing a puzzle, building with blocks, tracing letters and so much more! Now a little about myself, I'm married and we have a pet tortoise named Jack.

I have education in Early Child Development and studied at Mesa College and San Jacinto College.  I have taught preschool for eleven years at Clairemont Emmanuel and fourteen years at Good Shepherd Lutheran.  I enjoy baking, sports, movies, walks on the beach, going to Sea World and spending time with family!

I am excited to join the creative team at Camel Valley Preschool as a Pre K teacher. I have been blessed to serve in the child development field  in several areas of San Diego county for over 20 years. My experience includes teaching, and being an administrator. I am passionate about providing teachable moments and creative opportunities for children. In my classroom, I strive to create an environment where each child can grow and thrive while exploring the world around them. Providing each child with opportunities for spiritual formation, emotional, social, and academic growth is pivotal in establishing a quality learning experience. I enjoy looking for new curriculum ideas, and keeping current with early childhood education.

When I am not teaching, I enjoy gardening, cooking, and hanging out with family and friends.I homeschooled my three sons, which furthered my interest in open-ended – hands on projects and literature.

Thank you for sharing your precious children with me.

I teach TK here at Carmel Valley preschool. I am the mother of 3 children and find teaching very rewarding.   I am educated in early childhood education and certified in the dental field.  I attend New Break and The Flood church.

My favorite part of working with my students is teaching them science and literature.

When I am not at school I love going on walks, skateboarding and reading.

I have had the pleasure of working at CVPS since 2005.  Each day is an adventure when you have a classroom of four and five year olds!  Prior to working here I taught a kindergarten class which was wonderful experience.  However, I have found pre-k to be my preferred age group.

My favorite subjects to share with my students are children’s literature, music, and kindergarten readiness.  I graduated from Cal State San Marcos University, where I majored in education with a special emphasis in creative and performing arts.  When I’m not teaching I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

I've been a permanent sub here for the past 6 years. I teach in the individual classrooms as well as working outside on the playground giving teachers their breaks.  I graduated from SDSU with a BA degree in Education and minor in Child Development. I've also been a nanny for the past 9 years.

I enjoy art, music and movement, and story time with the children. In my free time I like going to the beach, SeaWorld and the San Diego Zoo.  I love watching the children grow and like working in the different classrooms.

I have worked at CVPS since February 2017 and have enjoyed working with the 3's!  I am currently enrolled in the teaching credential program at CSUSM and will be around our campus, assisting teachers in their classrooms as well as the playground! I am excited to spend some time with your children.
